Words That Warm the Heart

At Abbeyfield Hoylake & West Kirby, we know that the simplest moments often become the most cherished. And on a calm weekday afternoon, our lounge at Abbeyfield Lear House was filled with smiles, stories and shared reflections as residents came together for a Shared Reading session hosted by Anne from The Reader.

With the spring sunlight pouring in through the windows and hot drinks to hand, our lovely residents settled into their comfy high-back chairs for a truly heartwarming experience. Anne, a seasoned reading leader, brought literature to life—reading aloud and inviting gentle conversation, sparking memories, laughter and even the occasional debate.

These sessions are part of our commitment to community-centric living, where round the clock care doesn’t mean a life on pause—it means a life enriched with meaningful moments, friendships and engagement.

Mental wellbeing is just as important as physical health. That’s why activities like these are woven into life at Abbeyfield Lear House. It’s all part of our adaptable care approach—designed to support each individual while encouraging curiosity, creativity and companionship.

Shared Reading can help reduce isolation, boost memory, and provide that comforting sense of belonging. It’s not just literature it’s life-enhancing. It’s the kind of moment that reminds us what truly makes a care home feel like home.

We’re proud to provide Residential Care, Respite Care and Replacement Care with heart, right here in Hoylake and West Kirby. Our team offers professional, compassionate, round the clock care with a personal touch. But don’t just take our word for it, these little moments speak volumes.
