Earlier this month our residents enjoyed a lively afternoon with the wonderful Sandra Currie who treated everyone to some toe-tapping Irish songs—and of course all the usual favourites that we just can’t get enough of.
There were smiles all round as Sandra brought the spirit of Ireland right into our cosy corner of West Kirby. The room was buzzing with laughter, singing and even a bit of gentle dancing (we won’t name names but some of our residents definitely still have moves!).

At Abbeyfield Hoylake & West Kirby we’re always looking for ways to make life at our residential care home joyful and full of community spirit and afternoons like these truly capture what we’re all about. Events like our St Patrick’s Day sing-along aren’t just a lovely treat—they’re a fantastic way to bring our residents together, boosting wellbeing, creating lasting memories and keeping everyone smiling.
And that’s really the beauty of community-centric living here at Abbeyfield Lear House. Sandra’s musical afternoons are a highlight, proving once again that music truly is good for the soul. From classic Irish ballads that tugged at our heartstrings to cheerful tunes that got everyone’s feet tapping, there was something for everyone to enjoy.

Our adaptable care approach means that all residents, whether they’re here for long-term residential care or joining us for a shorter stay with respite care, can enjoy events tailored to their needs. It’s all part of our commitment to providing the highest quality care in Wirral—wrapped in plenty of warmth, laughter and as we saw on St Patrick’s Day, some fantastic singing voices!
So here’s a big thank you to Sandra for another fantastic session. We’re already looking forward to next time!
Keep an eye on our blog for more updates from Abbeyfield Hoylake & West Kirby—we’ve got plenty more fun afternoons planned!
