Earlier this month, we enjoyed another brilliant afternoon at Abbeyfield Hoylake and West Kirby Society with the talented Andrew and Marko! The pair treated us to a fantastic selection of songs, including a special request for the traditional folk favourite All Around My Hat.
For those who might not know, All Around My Hat is a classic English folk song that dates back to the 19th century, made famous in recent years by Steeleye Span’s 1975 version. The song tells the tale of a heartbroken lover pledging to wear a green willow “all around my hat” as a symbol of their love and loyalty. It’s a tune that holds a special place in many hearts and it was wonderful to hear it performed live.
The afternoon was full of life as we sang along, shook tambourines and bells and even got up for a dance or two. There’s nothing quite like live music to lift the spirits and bring people together and Andrew and Marko certainly know how to create a joyful atmosphere.
A huge thank you to Andrew and Marko for another delightful afternoon filled with music, laughter and plenty of dancing. We’re already looking forward to their next visit!
