Last week was full of excitement as we had the pleasure of welcoming back the children from St Agnes Pre-School Group for another memorable afternoon of music, movement and learning. It was an afternoon filled with joy and laughter, made even more special by the amazing Caroline from Popcats, who brought her infectious energy and enthusiasm to the session.
Dancing, Percussion and Playful Learning
The children were absolutely delighted as they danced and played along to the rhythm of the music. From the very first note, it was clear that everyone was ready to get moving! We explored percussion instruments, with the children eagerly tapping and shaking their claves, learning about rhythm and sound while having a blast.
The beauty of music is its ability to spark creativity and this session was no exception. As the children counted along with their claves, they were unknowingly strengthening their numeracy skills. It’s amazing how much they can absorb while having so much fun!
Singing and Reading Together
Of course, no session would be complete without a sing-along. The children’s voices filled the room as we sang songs that got everyone involved. From clapping hands to stomping feet, it was all part of the fun and we could feel the sense of joy and togetherness that music creates.
As we wound down, we gathered together to read a story, bringing our afternoon of music to a gentle close. There’s something truly magical about reading together—especially when it’s done in a group, with everyone sharing in the excitement of the story.
A Memorable Experience
The afternoon was a wonderful reminder of how powerful music and play can be for young children. It’s not just about having fun—though that’s certainly a huge part of it! It’s about learning new skills, making connections and discovering the world in an interactive and engaging way.
