A Fantastic Crafternoon with Celia

At Abbeyfield Hoylake and West Kirby Society, we believe creativity knows no age limit! Our January Crafternoon with the talented Celia was a huge hit and we couldn’t wait to share the fun and fantastic results with you all. We love to engage our residents in a variety of activities and this one was extra special as we got our hands (and sponges!) into something really unique.

The theme for the day? Unconventional tools for art! Instead of brushes, we used sponges, corks and even plastic spoons to create some truly beautiful pieces of art. It was a session full of laughter, colour and plenty of inspiration. Not only did our residents enjoy experimenting with these unexpected tools, but they also enjoyed spending time with friends and making memories that will last far beyond the art itself.

Getting Creative with Celia

Celia, our wonderful craft expert, guided everyone through the session with her warm, patient style, making sure everyone felt comfortable and free to express themselves. She encouraged our residents to try out different techniques – from sponge-stamping to cork-dipping and spoon-swirling – to bring out their inner artists. What’s amazing is how each resident brought their own personal touch to the creations, making each painting completely unique.

A Welcoming Environment for Creativity

At Abbeyfield Hoylake and West Kirby, we always aim to offer a supportive, engaging environment for our residents, where they can thrive and enjoy fulfilling activities that enrich their days. Whether it’s through arts and crafts, fitness classes, or simply spending time together in a welcoming and caring space, we encourage our residents to try new things, discover new talents and most importantly, have fun. Our Crafternoons are a perfect example of this, giving everyone the opportunity to unleash their creativity while socialising in a relaxed setting.

Take a Look at the Wonderful Results!

We’re so proud of what our residents achieved in this session. From abstract patterns to nature-inspired designs, the creativity was endless. The results are not just a showcase of talent but a testament to the power of community and the joy of crafting. Check out these photos from our Crafternoon – we think you’ll agree that the finished pieces are pretty impressive!
